The Sydney-Melbourne rivalry is often unfairly painted as Melburnians having a chip on their shoulder about their sh*t weather and weird sports, while Sydneysiders are happily living their best lives, unaware such a ‘rivalry’ even exists. But a heartwarming video of a ‘street mosh’ after the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ gig in Melbourne has now proven – perhaps beyond doubt – why some people believe it’s better.
A video of a busker in a Darth Vader costume rocking out a Melbourne train station, and playing hits the Red Hot Chili Peppers apparently neglected to play during their concert, has sent TikTok into meltdown.
Three main videos are blowing up, depicting wild scenes of an train station afterparty, with the busker cleverly choosing an entrance/exit where hundreds of revellers were making their way home, buzzed up, from the official Red Hot Chili Peppers’ concert.

Videos from earlier on in the day show the busker playing to a very thin crowd, videos from later in the evening show the whole street swaying.
As he thumbs the opening line to ‘Under The Bridge’ the crowd goes wild. Videos of the event had captions like: “POV the red hot chili peppers don’t play Dani California at the melbourne concert so Darth Vader has to step in.”
Others were more positive, saying “what a vibe to end the night” and “Darth Vader casually starting a street mosh.” Another said: “I love seeing people bond over the things they love.”

Another said, “You’re not Australian if you haven’t seen guitar vader,” suggesting this was a regular occurrence in Melbourne.
“Melbourne has the best music culture,” opined another.

The only question that remains now is: how much did Darth Vader get paid? We hope a lot. If not from the crowd, from the Melbourne tourism authorities. The post Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘Train Station Afterparty’ Proves Melbourne Is Better Than Sydney appeared first on DMARGE.
