Even If You’re Not a “Leather Jacket Guy”
So, tell me if this sounds like you. You want a leather jacket but you haven’t pulled the trigger yet because after trying several on, the idea of wearing a leather jacket feels better and more natural than when you’re looking at yourself wearing one in the mirror.
Sound about right?
The problem is probably that you’re not trying on the right leather jackets. We can have a tendency to romanticize leather jackets and how they might transform our personality or style into a badass rock-and-roll biker or vintage cigar-smoking aviator, but if that’s not you, well, then that’s not you!
If you’re not comfortable wearing something, that’s going to radiate out into the world. People will notice immediately and that’s going to affect your overall confidence. So let’s not go there.
The good thing is that there are more leather jacket styles than just biker jackets or bomber jackets, and today we’re talking about one that is a perfect fit for those looking to add a leather jacket to their outwear collection along with a simple leather jacket outfit idea.

The best thing you can do if you fit the description above, is to keep your leather jacket style as simple as possible. Avoid excess zippers. No quilting. No extra buckles. These are nice flourishes but hallmarks of a different style, which we’re just assuming isn’t your style.
A simple leather jacket such as the one I’m wearing in this post is both less flamboyant and infinitely more versatile. And, let’s face it, to get the biggest bang for your buck, versatility is what you should be looking for in any purchase you make.
Let’s talk about styling.
It can be easy to fall into the trap of thinking that the only way to style a leather jacket outfit is with jeans. Now, in terms of motorcycle jackets, I would tend to agree (though there are always exceptions to any rule). However, with a simple, no frills leather jacket, you greatly expand your possibilities, particularly in the business casual realm.
A brown leather jacket pairs extremely well with a pair of navy cotton trousers. Rather than “dress down” the pants, the jacket’s simplicity is an effortless match even styled with a cuff and a crease.
A sweater worn over a sporty brown gingham button-up shirt is one of my go-to outfits for fall/winter business casual, get togethers with friends or family, or low key date night.
And a great pair of leather shoes is the perfect outfit anchor.
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Stylishly Yours,
Brian Sacawa
