Exotic Italian supercars often overheat – but a particularly brutal arson attack in Sydney last week has had even the biggest Lamborghini haters shedding a few tears.
Residents of an Olympic Park apartment block last Tuesday were rudely awakened at 1am by a large bang – only to find a bright blue 2022 Lamborghini Huracán Evo engulfed in a roaring blaze after a brazen arson attack.
CCTV captured two men haphazardly dousing the $400,000 supercar in petrol and then legging it after setting the car ablaze. The fire department was quick on the scene, but too late to save the expensive Italian car, which was reduced to nothing but wheels and a door. A BMW i8 parked near the Lambo was also damaged.
The car, which was a rental belonging to a firm called Sydney Luxury Hire, has been completely written off, unsurprisingly.

Police have suggested that the arson was a potential underworld revenge attack – an allegation that Sydney Luxury Hire vehemently denies.

In production since 2019, the Lamborghini Huracán Evo is powered by a 5.2L variant of Lamborghini's iconic odd-firing V10 engine, which makes 471 kW at 8,000 rpm and 601 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. It can rocket from 0–100 km/h in just under 3 seconds and boasts a top speed of 325 km/h.
That's face-melting performance – although, in this instance, it's quite literally face-melting...
