Sydney Barber Shops FAQ
How much is a haircut at a Sydney barber shop?
Haircut prices at Sydney barber shops can start at around $20 for a trim and $35 for a 45-minute cut. However, some Sydney barber shops offer full packages that include beard trims and facials, and these can demand around $100. Some of the best packages can even see you pay up to $200 (say, for a complicated fade haircut including styling, and a cut throat shave). It just depends what services you want, and where you want to get them.
How do I ask a barber for a new haircut?
If you want to change up your style, then the best course of action you can take is to be direct. You'll also want to take a photo or two on your phone to show your barber the sort of hairstyle you're after. Don't be afraid to speak up if they are ruining your haircut, the sooner you say something, the higher the chance of it being rectified. It's good to know phrases such as point cutting or thinning, which relate to creating texture and movement through your hair if it becomes a little unruly.
What do barbers spray on hair after a haircut?
Unless you ask them not to, a barber will usually apply some product to your new haircut to style it. Once styled, they will spray on a holding product, such as hairspray, to keep your new style locked in.
What services does a barber offer?
A barber typically offers hair cutting, styling, and grooming services for men, such as haircuts, beard trims, and shaves. Some barbers also offer other grooming services such as facials and haircare products.
What is the difference between a barber and a hairdresser?
A barber is typically trained to work specifically with men's hair and grooming needs, while a hairdresser is trained to work with both men and women's hair. Hairdressers may offer a wider range of services, including coloring and chemical treatments.
Do I need an appointment to see a barber?
Usually, yes. But not always. It depends on the barber shop, as they all have different systems. Some barber shops take appointments, while others operate on a walk-in basis. It's always a good idea to call ahead and check if you need to make an appointment.
What should I expect during a barber visit?
During a visit to a barber, you can expect a consultation with the barber to discuss the haircut and style you're looking for. You'll then be seated in a barber chair, and the barber will wash and cut your hair, style it, and possibly give you a shave or beard trim.
When do the barbers open?
Most Barbers in Sydney open between 8am and 9:30am.
