Where To Eat In Noosa: 8 Tried & Tested Restaurants You’ll Freakin’ Love

After 10 years of visiting Noosa, I’ve decided to finally put together a list of my favourite restaurants. Why only now? Because up until recently the only place to get a meal in Noosa was the surf club. In the past 5 years, the town has become the go-to destination for yuppie Melburnians, Brisbanites and Sydneysiders escaping for the weekend. The food scene has exploded and you can now get some killer meals away from the main drag. Noosa is booming, so get around some of its best restaurants.

Why should you trust this list? We’ve eaten at all of these restaurants (multiple times in the past 6 months).

Things to remember when dining in Noosa.

  1. Don’t get trapped eating in Hastings St. Do yourself a favour and explore beyond.
  2. Noosa Junction is the new hotspot for food.

Light Years Noosa

1 Sunshine Beach Rd, Noosa Heads QLD 4567

Light Years Noosa has been around for about 4 years now. The creators Kim and James hail from the depths of Melbourne’s hippest suburbs and have delivered a fantastic dining experience.

Enjoy seafood dishes in a casual atmosphere at Light Years in Noosa. This popular restaurant features an extensive wine list and a selection of local and imported beers. Selections change seasonally to ensure that only the freshest ingredients are used. The outdoor seating area provides a stunning view of the beach, making it an ideal spot to watch the sunset.

We recommend the Miso Corn, Pork Belly and Kingfish Ceviche.

In short: Cool vibey Asian fusion with a great soundtrack.
Price: $$$
Bookings: A must.

Lucio’s Noosa

3/2 Parkyn Ct, Tewantin QLD 4565

Lucio’s, a former Sydney establishment, is now located at Noosa Marina a short drive from the main town. The menu is filled with traditional Italian favourites such as pasta dishes, seafood and meat, all made with the freshest ingredients. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring every guest has a wonderful dining experience. Lucio’s is also known for its extensive wine list, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine while enjoying the view of the Noosa River.

We recommend the Kangaroo tartare and fried school prawns. Their pastas are to die for as too is the 250-gram Wagyu. Don’t get me started about the red wine jus that came with it. Amazing.

In short: A premium Italian dining experience you’ll remember for a long time.
Price: $$$$
Bookings: A must, but a bit easier than some Noosa places.

Kaali Indian

Whilst you would be excused for never eating Indian in Noosa, Kaali has become our go-to every time we visit. Known for its delicious and authentic dishes, Kaali offers a wide range of curries, tandoori dishes, and vegetarian options. The owners are gruff no bullshit folk which means you get in, get fed and get the fuck out in a timely manner.

We recommend the Beef Vindaloo and Butter Chicken because why the hell not.

In short: Probably the best Indian we’ve ever had in Australia.
Price: $$$
Bookings: Easy to get a table.

Herbert

Shop 2 and 3, 1 Arcadia St, Noosa Heads QLD 4567

Herbert Restaurant up in Noosa Junction offers a unique dining experience with a focus on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The menu is a mix of modern Australian and Mediterranean cuisine and the atmosphere is casual yet elegant. Their cocktail menu is killer thanks to its co-owner Alex McKechnie who mastered the craft in New York. His comrade Leon Johnston provides the entertainment and smiles. Herbert is something different amongst a sea of deep-fried rubbish. It’s clean and fresh which is why we love eating there.

In short: Good vibe with a light and easy menu.
Price: $$$
Bookings: Book but you may score a walk in.

Paradise Arcade

Paradise Arcade Mexican in Noosa is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurant offers a wide range of traditional dishes, from tacos and burritos to enchiladas and fajitas. The atmosphere is lively and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The drinks menu is also impressive, featuring a variety of tequilas and margaritas.

Sumi Open Kitchen is the most unique experience you’ll have outside of a capital city in Australia. It offers a unique blend of Japanese and Korean cuisine, the menu features fresh and authentic dishes made with locally-sourced ingredients. The open kitchen concept allows diners to watch their meals being prepared, adding to the overall dining experience… also helpful if your partner is boring.

We recommend going with the flow with this very unique dining experience.

Price: $$$
Bookings: Bookings are a must.
